よく知られているように、1543年にポルトガル船が種子島に漂着。日本と西洋との交流はここに始まったといっても過言ではありません。
鉄砲伝来、ザビエル、イエズス会によるキリスト教の伝来。そして、日本人が初めて訪れたヨーロッパの国もポルトガルでした。
一方、ポルトガル側では1541年に日本を植民地化した、と認識しています。大航海時代は発見した土地が即、植民地だったようです。
