Miyuki Morimoto

Miyuki Morimoto was born in Tokyo and graduated from the Kunitachi Academy of Music and completed a two year post-graduate Opera Course at the Guildhall School of Music with Vera Rozsa OBE. 
Miyuki Morimoto has won many prizes for her singing, including the "International Young Concert Artists Competition of Royal Tumbridge Wells" (UK) and the "Viotti Singing Competition" in Vercelli, Italy.

@Miyuki Morimoto has appeared on the operatic stage in Great Britain, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Italy, Spain, New Zealand and Malaysia in a repertoire including Erisbe "L'Ormindo", Susanna "Le Nozze di Figaro", Queen of the Night "Die Zauberflote", Konstanze "Die Entfuhrung aus dem Serail", Rosina "Il Barbiere di Siviglia", Giulia "La Scala di Seta", Adina "L'Elisir d'Amore", title role "Lucia di Lammermoor", Olympia and Antonia "Les Contes d'Hoffmann", Gilda "Rigoletto", Violetta "La Traviata", Lauretta "Gianni Schicchi", Liu "Turandot", Najade "Ariadne auf Naxos", and Lucia "The Rape of Lucretia". Miyuki also created the role of Sgricia in Amendola's "I Giganti della Montagna" at the Batignano Festival in Italy in 1995, and Village Girl in the British premiere of Guo Wenjing's "Wolf Cub Village" and Entertainer in a world premiere of "Night Banquet" for Almeida Opera(UK) in 1998.

Miyuki Morimoto has a very busy career on the concert platform and has given recitals throughout Europe, United States, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Japan. Recent engagements in the United Kingdom have included recitals for the Wigmore Hall, the Schubert Society, the Scottish Academy of Music, and concert performances have included Knussen's "Symphony No2" at the Camden Festival, an evening of opera arias with the London Symphony Orchestra and several opera evenings for BBC Radio.

She sings regularly in Japan where performances have been broadcast by NHK FM Radio, Tokyo FM Radio (this was a recital tour of seven major cities) and RKB Mainichi TV (Mitsui Home Special New Year Recital). Recent Oratorio and concert performances have included "The Seasons" with the Yamagata Symphony Orchestra, "Magnificat" with the Takefu International Festival Orchestra, "The Creation" with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, which formed part of a tour of North America and was broadcast by CBS TV. She has given recitals for the Sony Music Foundation, for the British Council at the "UK Fair 98", and for "Unique Duo" with flute and harp.
