Thank you for your access,Juan.
The JIA, along with some other architectural organizations in Japan, is now working with the Ministry of Construction toward the multi-lateral(international) authorization of architects' licenses. You'll have to wait presumably 1 to 3 more years for this to become effective, so at the moment your license is not in itself "valid", but you can apply for the exemption clause of the Article 4 of our Kenchikushi Law. Actually,
1) if you have a license to practice in your country, you don't have to take the drawing exam, but have to take all the paper exams.
2) if you have a license to practice in your country, and have more than 3 years of actual practicing experience, you don't have to take the drawing exam, and only have to take the "structure" and the "building law" as paper exams.
3) if you have a license to practice in your country, and have more than 10 years of actual practicing experience, you don't have to take any exams, and only have to present a short treatise in your OWN language. (That's a good deal, isn't it?)

For more details, I advise you to contact the Ministry, in Japanese if possible. (3580-4311)
You can hire a 1st class kenchikushi, instead. This way, you can virtually practice here.

Good luck! Webmaster
